Web design with Contao CMS
Updating your website contents such as pictures and texts is a breeze with the Contao CMS. If you are familiar with a text editor you should also be able to use a CMS like Contao. Contao has lots of nice features, which help to create and maintain a modern website.
You can program your own web design with CSS, but there are also pre-made templates for Contao available for a quick implementation of a website.
A CMS based on Symfony
The new Contao version 4 is built with Symfony components. It is free and open source.
Symfony is a framework which allows developers to make use of thousands of existing bundles. Thus the development process can be accelerated and more economic.
Onboard functionality
I often work with the open source content management system Contao, which is suitable for almost all website projects, as it can be expanded flexibly yet, is very simple to use. A website form generator, sliders, calendars, news, newsletter modules and comment functions are already included in the core functionality. This functions do not need to be installed separately.
Easily extensible
For other functionalities, there are numerous extensions available that can be installed in order to adapt the CMS to your own needs. Multilingual websites, slide shows, your own blog, small online shops or content delivery for various mobile devices and desktop computers (responsive web design) don’t pose any problems and can be implemented simply in Contao.
Contao file manager
Contao is comfortable to use and clearly structured. Usually website editors easily find their way in the Contao backend. Pictures and media files can be organised within the file manager, which can be customised with folders and subfolders to suit your website's needs. This enables you to keep track of your files when your website is becoming more complex, containing lots of pictures, PDF or other media files to manage.
User rights
In addition Contao allows to issue specific user rights. Not every user needs full access to all available features on a website with multiple editors. There can be users e.g. who have only access to work on a special part of the website or on special articles. Or some users are granted access to only upload files.
The Contao backend can be customised in such a way, that a user who is only allowed to uplod files, will never see the other parts of the backend.
Many editors feel very relieved when logging in to a clear and simple structured backend, not beeing overwhelmed with lots of options and functionality.
A popular CMS with search engine-friendly code
Unlike other CMS, Contao already inherently produces a valid search engine-friendly HTML code. Contao is a CMS "Made in Germany" and continuously developed since 2006. It is one of the most popular CMS in German-speaking countries. Here you can check out the backend and frontend of the official Contao online demo.
Translations
Many languages are already available in the back end of Contao, e.g. German, Japanese, Russian, Italian, Spanish, French, Chinese and many more...
If you’re curious as to whether Contao could potentially be used for your own website, I'd be more than happy to advise you. Just get in touch.
